Getting started
- Install Descriva from the Shopify App Store. It opens inside your Shopify admin — nothing to configure first.
- The first-run flow asks for your brand name, runs a live AI visibility audit, and shows your score — about two minutes.
- From the dashboard, work the “needs work” queue: each gap has a one-click fix (generate the copy, FAQ, or schema) that you review before publishing.
Common questions
What does Descriva actually do?
Descriva measures whether AI assistants — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude — recommend your store when shoppers ask them what to buy, then helps you close the gaps it finds: entity-first product descriptions, FAQ and JSON-LD schema, alt text, blog articles, and the storefront plumbing (llms.txt, robots.txt, redirects, fast indexing) that helps engines find your pages.
Will Descriva change my store without asking?
No. Everything is review-before-publish — generated copy sits as a draft until you approve it. The only automatic writes are ones you explicitly switch on, like auto-generating descriptions for newly imported products, and each of those is a toggle you control in Settings.
How does the AI visibility audit work?
Descriva asks the AI engines real buyer-style questions about products like yours and records whether your store is named in the answers. That becomes your visibility score, the per-product breakdown, and the competitor list. You can re-run it any time, and paid plans can turn on a daily automatic audit so the score tracks itself.
What does the free plan include?
The free plan lets you run a visibility audit on your top products and try the core generation tools with a monthly credit allowance. Paid plans (Starter $14.99, Pro $34.99, Scale $99.99 per month) raise the credit pool and unlock whole-store audits, the technical site crawl, competitor traffic data, and bulk optimization. Annual billing gets two months free.
How does billing work? Can I cancel any time?
All billing runs through Shopify's own billing system — Descriva never sees your payment details. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from the Plan & billing page inside the app, and cancelling stops the next charge. If a charge ever looks wrong, email us and we'll make it right.
How do refunds and cancellation work?
Cancel any time from Plan & billing inside the app — the change takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle and you keep access until then. Billing runs through Shopify, so charges appear on your Shopify invoice, and refunds follow Shopify's app billing rules: we can refund a charge within 60 days of it being billed. If a charge looks wrong or the app didn't do what you expected, email us with your store domain — we'd rather refund than argue. Uninstalling the app also ends billing at the close of the current cycle.
What is Fast Indexing, and do I need the Google step?
Fast Indexing pings search engines when your pages change so they re-crawl in hours instead of days. The one-click connection covers Bing, Yandex, Naver, and Seznam via IndexNow. The separate Google connection is optional and aimed at developers — Google's Indexing API is built for job and event pages and only sometimes accepts product URLs, so treat it as a bonus, not the main path.
Does Descriva access my customers' data?
No. Descriva works only with your product content and the settings you provide. It does not request access to customers, orders, or payment data — see the privacy policy for the full picture.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Your store's data is deleted from Descriva's systems within 48 hours of uninstalling, in line with Shopify's data protection requirements. If you reinstall within that window, your settings pick up where they left off.
Why don't I see results in Google or ChatGPT right away?
Search engines and AI assistants update on their own schedules — typically days to weeks, not hours. Descriva gets your content into the shape engines prefer and tells them it changed; the re-crawl and re-ranking happen on their side. The visibility score is the honest way to watch it move.
Something broken?
If a page errors, a generation fails, or a number looks wrong, email us with what you were doing and roughly when. Failed AI generations refund their credits automatically, so you're never charged for a miss — but we still want to hear about it.
